SBE Economics programme in the lead in CHE-ranking
Published on 07-05-2008
This year the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics (SBE) participated for the first time in the German Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung-ranking. The CHE ranking monitors student opinions on a wide variety of subjects, for example teaching, study abroad and career opportunities, but also on the city that houses a university and other non-study related issues. SBE’s bachelor’s programmes in Economics and International Business were included in this project.
The CHE-ranking results are interactive. Prospective students can choose which criteria are important for them in reaching a decision on what programme they wish to follow and the city where they want to follow it. Participating institutes are divided into three groups: top, middle and bottom. The Economics programme has an excellent position compared to other participating universities. Out of thirteen criteria measuring student satisfaction, this programme is placed in the top group for twelve of them. The bachelor’s programme in International Business is ranked consistently in the top and the middle group, also indicating that our students are satisfied with this study programme.
The ranking is based on two different surveys. First our own students were asked about their current study programme and their satisfaction level on different subjects. Second the faculty was also asked to answer questions concerning the number of students and employees, the participating programmes, etc.
