Keuzegids Hoger Onderwijs: 1st place for International Business, Econometrics and Fiscal Economics

The Keuzegids Hoger Onderwijs, an evaluation guide to Dutch universities and institutions of higher education, issued its ranking again last week. This year, as opposed to previous years, the ranking is not only based on students’, but also on experts’ opinions and a weighing of contact hours and success rate. These three last categories are responsible for 50% of the result. In this year’s issue Maastricht University is ranked 3rd (as in Keuzegids 2008) in the list of best universities.

The bachelor’s programmes from the School of Business and Economics were ranked as follows:

- Economics: 2nd place
- Econometrics and Operations Research 1st place
- Fiscal Economics 1st place
- International Business 1st place

Keuzegids uses a number of criteria to compose this ranking. SBE’s programmes score highest on content of the programmes, success rate (graduation), organisation and facilities. The International Business programme also scores high on teaching staff and preparation for the labour market. Furthermore this is the programme that the Keuzegids recommends to high school students wanting to study International Business.

With this ranking, SBE is pursuing the high quality education students have come to expect. Since 2005 its programmes have been present in the top positions in the Keuzegids ranking, thus proving that maintaining a high standard of education is a constant factor of concern in Maastricht.
