3. What is the selection procedure for International Business (IB) and Economics & Business Economics (EBE)?
There are two selection procedures for IB and EBE. The decentralised selection procedure focuses on international education and background and (for EBE only) an interest and/or experience in the field of economics. We must submit a complete application before 1 May, this will be assessed by the Committee Decentralised Selection.
The central lottery procedure, executed by the DUO/IB-Groep is, as the name already indicates a lottery procedure. Details can be found here.
4. Can I get an exemption for a part of the bachelor’s programme if I have already studied at a different university?
If you have followed university or higher vocational education before, you may qualify for exemptions. This means you can use the results you obtained elsewhere for your programme at UM. The Admission Board of the programme will determine whether this is possible in your case. The content and level of the course or subject for which you are applying for exemption is compared with that of your previous programme. To make use of this possibility, you must submit a request for exemption to the programme’s Admission Board. Keep in mind that this means the registration procedure will take more time, so apply early.
Please note that students can only be exempted from the entire first-year of their bachelor’s programme (not for parts of it). In addition to a first-year exemption, students can be exempted from parts of the second and third year of their bachelor’s programme. (For SBE students who change from one BSc to another, it is possible to be exempted from parts of the first year bachelor’s programme)

6. What does the academic year look like? Is there an academic calendar available?
The academic year is divided into 6 blocks (periods). Every block (except for block 3 and 6) takes 8 weeks and ends with an exam week. In block 3 and 6 you will take part in a Skills Training which lasts 2 weeks.

7. What are the requirements regarding mathematics and economics if I didn’t complete my secondary education in the Netherlands? At which level should I have followed my math courses?
If you have a non-Dutch diploma that is equivalent to the Dutch VWO diploma you are in principle admissible to our bachelor’s programmes. If your diploma is not included in the overview of equivalent diplomas, it must first be evaluated by the Admissions Office. This happens automatically during the application process, but it takes time, so you should apply as early as possible, preferably before 1 April.
