Public Economics

People and planet meet profit in an international environment

The Public Economics track covers three major subject areas:

• Public policy – discusses how behavioural responses are linked to government decisions; issues of social insurances, such as pensions and so on
• Political economy – covers the political decision-making process; how governments make decisions, based on for example majority voting, personal interest, dictatorships and so on
• Public policy evaluation – looks out the outcomes of political decisions and evaluates policy changes, such as the effect of pension reforms

Three-pronged study approach
Studying this track works through a combination of three learning approaches: formal theoretical reasoning, behavioural and experimental examinations, and empirical policy evaluation. The track provides you with the theoretical and empirical means to tackle pertinent real-life problems.

Public Economics is a 1-year, full-time programme taught entirely in English. Graduates will a master's degree in International Economic Studies with a specialisation in Public Economics
