Student profile
You should be politically, socially and environmentally motivated. You should have a genuine interest in social policy and welfare state issues, including the underlying mechanisms of public policy. But you should enjoy questioning these things as much as finding the answers.
A sound knowledge of economics and quantitative methods is a plus, although you can arrange to take a quantitative methodology course before starting this track. A bachelor’s degree in economics, international business economics or any quantitative subject is an advantage, but all disciplines are welcome.
Are you a curious, self-motivated person who likes to ask questions? Are you curious about how we should deal with issues like climate change, international terrorism, democracies, migration, an aging population and social insurance? Do you question whether the market can always regulate itself, or whether policies are sometimes required to step in? Are you interested in asking questions that don’t have straightforward answers? The Public Economics track offers you the platform to do just that.
