Universiteit Maastricht

Student profile

The Fiscal Economics programme may be for you if:

  • you enjoy analyses and mathematics
  • you enjoy finding solutions to complex fiscal problems
  • you are interested in tax laws and their economic effects
  • you are excited about international developments in the field

Since students must take fiscal law courses from the Faculty of Law that are offered only in Dutch, the programme is only open to students who have a good command of the Dutch language.

Study Choice Awareness Programme
Starting in January 2010, the Study Choice Awareness Programme (SCAP) is offered to all students who are registered via Studielink for the Fiscal Economics and Econometrics and Operations Research bachelor’s programmes at the School of Business and Economics. SCAP is designed to help potential students choose the best programme to match their interests, abilities and expectations.

SCAP consists of three parts:

  • a questionnaire addressing the potential students’ skills, experiences, knowledge and ideas about the future,
  • a consultation with a student advisor to discuss the program in more detail and the expectations of both the applicant and the School
  • a group discussion with fellow prospective students under the supervision of a senior student

The communication will take place electronically, using Skype and Video conferencing.

After the consultation, the student will receive feedback and advice from the SCAP advisor. The advice is not officially associated with the admissions procedure of the School.

Once you have completed your registration via Studielink, you will be contacted by the school about SCAP. The programme is a perfect way to prepare for a successful start in Fiscal Economics or Econometrics and Operations Research at SBE.
