Admissions

Admission requirements

  • for non-Dutch diplomas
If you have a non-Dutch diploma that is equivalent to the Dutch VWO diploma you are in principle admissible to this programme. If your diploma is not included in the overview of equivalent diplomas (please also check the additional requirements that may apply to your diploma), it must first be evaluated by the Admissions Office. This happens automatically during the application process, but it takes time, so you should apply as early as possible, preferably before 1 April.

  • for Dutch diplomas

In principle you are immediately admissible to the bachelor’s programme in Econometrics and Operations Research if you have a VWO diploma with the following profiles (depending on when you earned your diploma) and satisfy the additional requirements.

    • Before 2010
      • ‘Natuur en Techniek’
      • ‘Natuur en Gezondheid’
      • ‘Economie en Maatschappij’ + wb1
      • ‘Cultuur en Maatschappij’ + wb1
    • After 2010

      • ‘Natuur en Techniek’
      • ‘Natuur en Gezondheid’ + wisB
      • ‘Economie en Maatschappij’ + wisB
      • ‘Cultuur en Maatschappij’ + wisB
Language proficiency

The bachelor’s programme in Econometrics and Operation Research is taught in English. If you finished your secondary education in a non–EU/EEA country and are not a native English speaker, you must submit the official results of either an IELTS test (minimum score 6.0) or TOEFL (computer-/internet-based minimum score 79; paper-based minimum score 550). If you finished your secondary education in an EU/EEA country you will not have to do an English language test.

Application deadlines

The official deadline for having your application complete is 1 September 2012. However, as the application process takes some time, please submit your application as soon as possible.

  • Students with an EU diploma that is equal to a Dutch vwo diploma should apply before 1 August 2012.
  • Non-EU students who need to apply for a visa or those whose diploma is not on the list of diploma’s equal to a Dutch vwo diploma should start their application process by at least 1 April 2012 (in any case as soon as possible after that date) in order to meet the deadline. Applying for a visa and the diploma evaluation takes several months.

Admission exam and credit transfer

Students who do not possess the required prior education may qualify for an admission exam. If you have followed higher education before, you can submit a request for credit transfer. If you do, please keep in mind that the registration procedure will require more time.
