Recruiting top talent

Students and graduates from SBE not only hold top academic qualifications. They are also trained in presentation and communication skills, problem solving and teamwork, due to our pioneering problem-based learning system. Often from international backgrounds, and almost always with study-abroad experience, SBE graduates are employees of choice for many top firms. There are several ways in which you may want to make use of SBE’s recruitment opportunities.

Internships

Do you have some specific research that your company needs carrying out? Or do you want to get to know good students before they graduate, so that you can make the best hires? Employing an SBE intern for a specific period of time may be the solution. Our graduates have interned in all disciplines, from HR to organizational consultancy to accounting. Companies simply come to us with an internship project, and our academic coordinators decide whether to promote it to master’s or bachelor’s students. To set up an internship, the process is simple. You can fill in our standard internship offer form (ask our office) or send an offer in your format. This is then published on SBE’s Intranet, and students apply directly to you. Companies that have made use of SBE interns before include ABN AMRO, KPMG, DHL, Johnson & Johnson, Toyota and Shell.

For more information email the internship office at internshipoffice-sbe@maastrichtuniversity.nl or call +31 43 388 3748 (only available on Monday and Thursday).

Career services

The university offers various direct and indirect recruitment services that can be used by companies looking for employees, as well as by students looking for work. Students have demonstrated a higher likelihood of applying for companies with whom they’ve had contact while studying, because they perceive them as well respected by the university.

By providing guest lectures, workshops, case studies and internships, companies come into contact with potential future employees. The School’s study associations also hold careers fairs, recruitment diners and company presentations. These give companies access to talented, highly educated, international students with much more than just a degree qualification. Within our study associations alone, over 40 companies are involved with recruitment activities with our students – including international firms like Shell, ING and Henkel, as well as smaller, local firms.

Careers fairs

Every spring the university hosts so-called Maastricht Business Days. These are an excellent opportunity to profile your company to hundreds of international, highly skilled, soon-t-be accredited students. The rest of the year, various other careers fairs relating to specific disciplines are organized by the University’s study associations, including Maastricht Finance Day, Consultancy Day, Make a Move, Supply Management Day and Marketing Day. As a participating company, you will have your own stand at the fair, where you can meet and greet employees. You also have plenty of cross-selling opportunities: you can give workshops, lectures and generally get involved in students’ education. Previous companies at our fairs include leading companies like Shell, Deloitte, KPMG, Proctor and Gamble and Unilever.
