Concours Européen des Droits de l’Homme René Cassin

Admission criteria: The René Cassin moot court is open to students in their third, fourth or fifth year, with knowledge of and interest in the ECHR. Language proficiency in French, both written and oral, is required.
Procedure: Student teams of three submit a written memorial on behalf of either the applicant or the State in a fictitious case before the European Court for Human Rights. The top-16 teams, each comprising two pleaders and one co-counsel, will be invited to defend their case during oral sessions in Strasbourg.
History: Maastricht came in second in the finals of 1998, and finished sixth in 2009.
Admission: Apply before 1 October 2010 via e-mail, including a motivation letter, a resumé and a transcript of your academic results. Selection will take place in October.
