Mission and Strategy of the Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law aims at providing excellent education and research that meets international standards. The education and research provisions focus on the demands of the (inter) national and European labour markets: one faculty for Dutch, European and international lawyers; one faculty where diversity in research and education plays a central role.

The educational structure is naturally designed to meet national and international standards. Lawyers must possess all of the relevant skills: they can competently and creatively handle matters pertaining to national, European and international law, as well as comparative law and all of its myriad interactions. Resolution skills and language proficiency (both in the mother tongue and in English) are essential.

Research also focuses on these interactions as well as on the Europeanisation and internationalisation of the legal profession. It concentrates on pre-selected themes; on European common law (Ius Commune); and on the globalisation of law and civil rights.
