International profile
More than one-third of the student population of Maastricht University is from outside the Netherlands and over 700 exchange students come to study every year. Within the Faculty of Law itself, about 30% of the students are from outside the Netherlands. The faculty employs staff from all over Western Europe and a large number of foreign academics and specialists in comparative, international and European law.
The language of instruction for the programme is English, the most widely used international language. For students who are non-native English-speakers, the programme’s English language curriculum will strengthen your command of the English language and prepare you for a career in an international environment.
Internships
Although internships are not required, they offer a great opportunity for students to gain practical, real-world work experience. Students may apply for credits earned during a university-supervised internship to count towards the programme being followed at Maastricht University. While students themselves are primarily responsible for arranging their internship (at a firm or public body where the student is not yet employed), the faculty’s internship office may be of assistance with arranging the university supervision.
