The story of:

Mirjam oude Egbrink studied biology at the University of Groningen (1978-1985). She joined the department of Physiology at Maastricht University in 1985 and received her PhD from the same university in 1989 for her thesis "Thromboembolic reaction following vessel wall injury in arterioles and venules".

In 1990, she became member of the staff of the Physiology department and in 1992 she was registered as Medical Physiologist. She always combined biomedical research (on the role of activated blood platelets in vascular disease) with a variety of functions in the medical curriculum and in the research master Physician-Clinical Investigator (A-KO).

Mirjam oude Egbrink serves on the Editorial Boards of the journal Microcirculation and of the Journal of Vascular Research. In 2008, she started the Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) at Maastricht University. In the same year, she was appointed Programme Director of the Medical Curricula at Maastricht University. Currently, she is involved in research focusing on the predictive value of educational selection methods.
