Mental Health
The western world has witnessed a significant increase in the number of individuals seeking help for mental health problems. There is an urgent need for effective treatments for mental disorders. The Master of Science in Mental Health is a professionally oriented academic level master's programme focusing on the field of mental health.
Multidisciplinary approach
The programme is characterised by a multidisciplinary, scientific approach to mental health issues and further builds on the knowledge and skills already acquired regarding psychological disorders, theoretical models and therapeutic approaches developed during the bachelor's phase. The programme provides graduates the education and the practical skills necessary to assess and manage various mental healthcare problems, treatments and systems. In addition to knowledge acquisition, the master's programme in Mental Health focuses on learning essential skills in the areas of diagnostics, intervention and research. The various courses therefore also include skills training. In addition, the programme gives students the opportunity to follow a clinical internship.
The curriculum and research projects of the master’s programme in Mental Health are closely linked to the Dutch-Flemish Postgraduate School for Experimental Psychopathology, (EPP). Whenever possible, research conducted for student master’s theses are supervised by a member of the EPP staff.
