Programme information
The Master of Public Health for Professionals programme gives public health professionals the analytical and practical tools to conduct advanced research into matters of public healthcare. The programme focuses on three main themes:- the origins and evolution of public health philosophy
- qualitative and quantitative research methodology
- statistical and qualitative data-analysis techniques
The programme is full-time and begins with a one-week, introductory course followed by nine units:
- Introduction to public health
- Introduction to research and research methodology
- Epidemiology and the evaluation of health determinants and health interventions
- Health, sickness and culture
- Health policy analysis
- Economic analysis of healthcare systems
- Managing healthcare organisations
- Assessing needs and understanding behavioural and environmental risk factors
- Planning of health education and health promotion interventions
A seminar and a series of skills trainings are also included. The programme also includes researching and writing a master's thesis under the close supervision of academic staff.
