Programme information

The master of Epidemiology gives students comprehensive knowledge of epidemiology, including the critical assessment of scientific publications and reports on public health and patient-bound research. Students also learn to plan, execute, analyse and report epidemiological research.

The first half of the programme consists of seven modules:

  • Intervention research
  • Health measurement
  • Systematic literature review
  • Observational research
  • Applied epidemiology and genetic epidemiology
  • Advanced statistical analysis techniques
  • Writing a research protocol

This part of the programme is closely interrelated with the two-year Research Master in Health Sciences programme. Master’s students in the Research Master Health Sciences follow most of the Epidemiology core modules.

During the second half of the programme, students will actively participate in epidemiological research and complete a master’s thesis under the close supervision of the academic staff.
