Biology of Human Performance and Health
Human beings were designed for daily physical activity. But in the modern world our sedentary lifestyle has led to chronic diseases like obesity, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Governments are increasingly recognising the importance of physical activity as a public health issue.
The master of Biology of Human Performance and Health was created for students with a keen academic interest in issues surrounding physical activity, ageing, health and sports. The programme is linked to the research goals of the following institutes:
- NUTRIM School for Nutrition, Toxicology and Metabolism
- CAPHRI School for Public Health and Primary Care
- CARIM School for Cardiovascular Diseases
- MHeNS School for Mental Health and Neuroscience
The master of Biology of Human Performance and Health is taught entirely in English. Students can either complete the curriculum as a one-year, full-time programme or as a two-year, part-time programme.

"What processes change when we get older, or get sick? This master’s taught me about movement, exercising and sports in healthy adults, sportsmen and patients with a chronic disease". >>
