Programme information
The Health Sciences programme at Maastricht University is unique. Your introductory year is broad and multidisciplinary, covering the entire field of health and healthcare. Good health is the result of interactions between many factors, including behaviour, the environment, social surroundings, biology and healthcare. You study general health, the factors that influence it, and the relationship between these factors. This enables you to ask critical questions, come up with effective solutions and take adequate action. The programme has an international outlook and a multidisciplinary structure. You work to find practical solutions to real-world problems, both together with fellow students and independently. Each course covers a new health sciences perspective, giving you a strong overall picture of the biological, behavioural and socio-scientific aspects of health.
In the second year, you begin to specialise by choosing for one of the four tracks: Policy, Management and Evaluation of Health Care, Biology and Health, Mental Health Sciences, Prevention and Health. Your choice should be based not only on your interests, but also on the master’s programme you intend to follow and your career plans. The study advisors of the faculty can help you make an appropriate choice.
