Programme information

The European Public Health programme examines regional, national and global public health developments within the European Union. You will learn about every aspect of public health policy and the effort to create a “New Public Health” throughout Europe. Applying real-world cases to your study, you will pursue six themes that correspond to the six semesters of the programme:

  • European Public Health topics today
  • the shape of Public Health in Europe today; form, function and place of national health programmes and institutions within the EU and the globalising world
  • European Public Health objectives; health for all. Universal, equal-access healthcare, the Europatient, good governance and free movement of goods, services and capital, cross border care
  • minor period study abroad or at other faculty in Maastricht
  • making public health work in Europe; how to initiate change on every level towards the European vision of a “New Public Health”
  • a practical research internship or assignment and related bachelor’s thesis
