Programme information
The first semester consists of two eight-week periods. During each course period you will take two courses. Each is worth 6 ects. All students take core courses 1, 2 and 3 and choose either core course 4 or 5. This semester is concluded with a 4-week (6 ects) seminar preparing students for their choices in the 2nd semester. Additionally, training in writing and specific methods and skills will be provided as part of the seminar.
In the second semester students can either opt for an internship, desk study or field work. Both internships and fieldwork are preceded by a choice of 2 (6 ects) elective courses. The 6 ects desk study will be combined with a third (6 ects) elective course. The (18 ects) fieldwork is accompanied by (3 ects) specific preparation and (3 ects) round off.
All elective courses can be chosen from a set of electives either specifically developed for this programme, or from other relevant programmes within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, or within Maastricht University.
For all students the programme is concluded with a 4-week (6 ects) workshop geared towards finalising the report (internship option), research paper (desk study option) or thesis (field work option).
