Curriculum Vitae
Maartje de Visser is an assistant professor at the Department of International and European Law at Maastricht University. Before coming to Maastricht, she worked as an assistant professor at Tilburg University (2008-2010). She completed her first degree at the European Law School of Maastricht University (cum laude) and went on to do her MJur at Oxford University (with distinction). Maartje completed her PhD at Tilburg University in January 2009 (cum laude).
Since September 2008, Maartje is involved in the ERC-sponsored EuNaCon project (coordinated by Prof Monica Claes). Her research considers how a selection of Member States and the EU organize constitutional interpretation and constitutional review and what the underlying constitutional principles are. Her other interests include judicial networks and judicial dialogues, EU institutional law and comparative public law.
Maartje is a scholar of the Maastricht Centre for European Law and a member of the Ius Commune Research School. She is also a member of the Montesquieu Institute Maastricht.
She teaches various courses dealing with European law at the Maastricht Faculty of Law.
