Curriculum Vitae
Miet Vanderhallen studeerde in 1996 af als maatschappelijk assistent aan de Katholieke Hogeschool der Kempen waarna zij in de periode 1996-1999 criminologie studeerde aan de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Na haar afstuderen was zij achtereenvolgens werkzaam als wetenschappelijk onderzoeker en als assistent aan de afdeling Strafrecht, Strafvordering en Criminologie. Als onderzoeker participeerde zij aan veiligheidsonderzoek en opinieonderzoek. In september 2007 promoveerde zij op het onderwerp ‘De werkalliantie in het politieverhoor’. In oktober 2008 start ze tevens als deeltijds docent rechtspsychologie aan de Universiteit Antwerpen. Per 15 augustus 2008 is zij daarnaast als universitair docent verbonden aan de capaciteitsgroep Strafrecht & Criminologie. In het onderwijs is zij actief in onder mee capita selecta criminologie, criminology en strafrecht met practicum. Daarnaast verzorgt zij met enige regelmaat cursussen politieverhoor voor de Belgische nationale rechercheschool en de provinciale politieschool van Antwerpen en Limburg. Zij is eveneens als docent verbonden aan de postacademische vorming ‘Multidisciplinair Forensisch Onderzoek’ aan de K.U.Leuven. Haar onderzoekswerkzaamheden concentreren zich binnen de criminologie en de rechtspsychologie.

Curriculum vitae
Following her graduation as a social worker in 1996 and a criminologist in 1999 (Catholic University of Leuven) Miet Vanderhallen worked as a junior researcher and a teaching assistant at the Department of criminal law and criminology at the Catholic University of Leuven. As a researcher she is involved in security research and public opinion research. In September 2007 she finished her doctoral thesis on ‘The working alliance in police interviewing’. From October 2007 onwards, she is a part-time professor of psychology and law at Antwerp University. Since August 2008 she is an assistant professor of Criminology at the University of Maastricht. She is among others involved in teaching capita selecta criminology, criminology and criminal law. Furthermore, she is teaching police interviewing at the Belgian Police Academy and the regional police academies of Antwerp and Limburg. She is also involved in the postacademic course on ‘Multidisciplinary Forensic Investigation’ at the Catholic University of Leuven. Her research is related to criminology and psychology and law.
