Curricum Vitae
Nikos is an assistant professor in the International and European Law Department. Nikos obtained his LL.B. from the University of Aberdeen in 2003. He then followed the Magister Iuris Communis Programme of Maastricht University which he completed cum laude in 2004. He then worked in the Greek Department of Amnesty International and in the Council of European Union as a specialist on the Cyprus issue. In 2005, he moved on to the European University Institute (Florence, Italy) where he read for a Ph.D. in European Law. During the academic year 2007-2008 he worked as the research assistant of professor Cremona, while during the following year, he was a Research Associate at the Academy of European Law. On June 2009, he defended successfully his doctoral thesis.

On September 2009, he joined the ERC-funded European and National Constitutional law project (EuNaCon) directed by prof. M. Claes. His current research within the project focuses on the principles underlying the various vertical divided powers systems, as well as to identify the constitutional conceptualization of State-EU relations. He has a particular interest in territorial and constitutional arrangements for conflict resolution purposes.

Nikos is a scholar of the Maastricht Centre for European Law, the Ius Commune Research School and the Centre for the Law of the EU External Relations.

Nikos teaches EU External Relations law at Maastricht Faculty of Law.

He is the author of The Cyprus issue: The four freedoms in a (member -) state of siege (Hart Publishing, 2011).
