Curriculum vitae (English)
Marjan Peeters holds the position of Professor of Environmental Policy and Law since 1 April 2008. She defended her PhD on marketable pollution rights in 1992. Between 1993 and 2002 she served as an environmental lawyer at the Ministry of Water Management and Transportation. Since 2001 she works at the Faculty of Law at Maastricht University. Marjan focuses on different topics of environmental law, with an emphasis on legal aspects of climate change policy and economic instruments for environmental policy. Marjan is together with Prof. Kurt Deketelaere editor of the book EU Climate Change Policy: the Challenge of New Regulatory Instruments (2006) and editor with Michael Faure of Climate Change and EU Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading: Lessons for Theory and Practice (2008) and Climate Change Liability (2011).
Marjan is coordinator of the elective master course European environmental law. She also teaches EU environmental law and Climate Change at the Université de Liège. She is member and coordinator of the Research Group Environmental Law of the Ius Commune researchschool (www.iuscommune.eu) and chair of a Dutch working group on Legal Aspects of Climate Change. She was member of a large research project for the Dutch Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (www.evaluatiemilieuwetgeving.nl), coordinator of the research project ´Emissions trading and competitive positions` and member of the editorial board of the Dutch Journal of Environmental Law (in Dutch: Tijdschrift voor Milieu en Recht). Since January 2008 she is member of the governing board of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law (www.iucnael.org).

Marjan Peeters is sinds 1 april 2008 bijzonder hoogleraar Milieubeleid en recht, in het bijzonder inzake klimaatverandering. Zij verdedigde in 1992 haar proefschrift `Marktconform milieurecht? Een rechtsvergelijkende studie naar de verhandelbaarheid van vervuilingsrechten.´ Zij werkte daarna als milieujurist bij Rijkwaterstaat. Vervolgens is zij sinds 2001 verbonden aan de juridische faculteit van de Universiteit Maastricht. Zij publiceert op verschillende terreinen van het milieurecht, met nadruk op juridische aspecten van klimaatverandering en economische instrumenten van milieubeleid. Marjan is tezamen met prof. Kurt Deketelaere co-editor van het boek EU Climate Change Policy: the Challenge of New Regulatory Instruments (2006) en tezamen met Prof. Michael Faure editor van Climate Change and EU Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading: Lessons for Theory and Practice (2008) en van Climate Change Liability (2011).
Marjan is:

- sinds januari 2008 lid van het bestuur van de IUCN Academy of Environmental Law (www.iucnael.org) (termijn eindigt in 2013).
Zij was:
- lid van het kernteam STEM (structurele evaluatie milieuwetgeving, een onderzoeksproject voor het ministerie van VROM, zie www.evaluatiemilieuwetgeving.nl),
