Curriculum Vitae
Lotte Meurkens (August 30th,1982) is a Ph.D. candidate at the Private Law Department. She studied law at the University of Utrecht (propaedeutic) and Maastricht University, where she finished the Master’s programs in European Law School and Dutch Private Law. Her Master thesis analyzed product liability law and practice in the United States and the European Union. While writing her Master thesis, she completed a five month internship at a first instance court (Rb. Roermond, Sept. ’07 - Jan. ‘08) and a two month internship at a law firm (Boels Zanders Advocaten Maastricht, Jun. - Jul. ’08). In September 2008, Lotte started a four-year research project on the possibility to incorporate punitive damages in tort systems in Continental Europe. Supervisors are Prof. mr G.E. van Maanen and Prof. mr T. Hartlief. Lotte is the present editorial secretary of the Dutch Journal of Civil Law (NTBR).
