Curriculum Vitae
Lars is an Assistant Professor at the Law Faculty of Maastricht University. He studied Politics and International Relations at the University of Reading (1997-2000). He then studied for an MSc in European Political Economy at the London School of Economics (2000-1). After working as a Researcher at the Federal Trust in London he moved to Oxford University where in 2009 he graduated with a DPhil in International Relations. Lars has also been an exchange student at Sciènce Po Lyon (1999-2000) and a Visiting Scholar at Michigan University Law School (2007-2008). Before joinng the Law School in Maastricht Lars was a Postdoc at Tilburg University’s Law Faculty.
Lars’ principal area of interest is EU constitutionalism and his doctoral thesis was entitled ‘Does Process Matter? Treaty Reform in the European Union’. Since 2008 Lars is part of the ERC-funded EuNaCon Project (eunacon.eu) where he analyses parliamentary-executive relations in ten EU member states. The work is expected to conclude in 2013 and Lars’ project-related monograph is due to be published that same year.
Lars is a scholar of the Maastricht Centre for European Law, a member of the Montesquieu Research Centre at Maastricht University as well as a a member of the Ius Commune Research School. He is also the Review Editor of the European Constitutional Law Review.
Lars teaches Comparative Government at Maastricht Faculty of Law.
