Mr A.J.A.J. (Jan) Eijsbouts (1945) werd per 1 oktober 2010 benoemd tot bijzonder hoogleraar Maatschappelijk Verantwoord Ondernemen (MVO) en tot Professorial Fellow bij het Institute for Corporate Law, Governance and Innovation Policies aan de Faculteit Rechtsgeleerdheid van de Universiteit Maastricht. Hij is met Prof. Drs Ing. Sybren de Hoo verantwoordelijk voor de ontwikkeling van en het onderwijs in het kernvak Corporate Social Responsibility in het internationale masterprogramma Globalisation and Law.
Jan Eijsbouts studeerde Nederlands Recht aan de RUG (doctoraal 1969 met keuzevak Anglo Amerikaans recht). Na bedrijfsjuridische functies bij NV Royal Philips Electronics (1971-1976) en NV Royal DSM (1976-1988) ging hij medio 2007 met prepensioen bij Akzo Nobel, waar hij sinds 1999 General Counsel en Concerndirecteur Juridische Zaken was. Van 2001 tot 2008 was hij tevens advocaat.
Jan Eijsbouts was Co-Chair van het Corporate Counsel Forum (2004-2006) en van het CSR Committee (2007-2008) van de International Bar Association. In 2010 trad hij op als preadviseur voor de Nederlandse Juristen Vereniging over de algemeen civielrechtelijke en ondernemingsrechtelijke aspecten van Maatschappelijk Verantwoord Ondernemen. Als adviseur ondernemingsrecht en conflictmanagement verbonden aan de Gaemo Group was hij betrokken bij het werk van Prof. John Ruggie (Harvard Kennedy School of Government), Special Representative van de Secretaris Generaal van de Verenigde Naties op het gebied van business en mensenrechten. Jan Eijsbouts trad ook op als juridisch adviseur in het Business and Human Rights Initiative van het UN Global Compact Network Netherlands.
Jan Eijsbouts is mediator NMI, ACB en CEDR. Hij is lid van de International Advisory Boards van de Mentor Group (Boston, US) en van het CEELI Institute (Praag). Hij is voorzitter Stichting World Legal Forum (Den Haag) en lid Public Private Network HiiL (Hague Institute for the Internationalization of Law).

Effective October 1, 2010, Mr A.J.A.J. (Jan) Eijsbouts (1945) was appointed Extraordinary Professor Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Professorial Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Law, Governance and Innovation Policies at the Law Faculty of Maastricht University. He is responsible with Prof Sybren de Hoo for the development of and teaching in the core course Corporate Social Responsibility in the International Master programme Globalisation and Law.
Jan Eijsbouts studied Dutch Law at Groningen University (master’s degree 1969, with optional course Anglo American Law). After having acted as in-house counsel at Royal Philips Electronics (1971-1975) and at Royal DSM (1976-1988) he retired mid 2007 from Akzo Nobel as Group General Counsel and Corporate Director Legal Affairs, a position he had held since 1999. From 2001 till 2008 he was also member of the Dutch Bar.
He was Co-Chair of the Corporate counsel Forum (2004-2006) and of the CSR Committee (2007-2008) of the International Bar Association. In 2010 he delivered his preadvice to the Dutch Association of Jurists NJV on the general civil and corporate law aspects of CSR. As adviser on corporate law and conflict management at the Gaemo Group he contributed to the work of Prof. John Ruggie (Harvard Kennedy School of Government), Special Representative of the UN Secretary General on the subject of business and human rights. Jan Eijsbouts also acted as legal adviser to the Business and Human Rights Initiative of the UN Global Compact Network Netherlands.
Jan Eijsbouts is mediator at NMI, ACB and CEDR. He is member of the International Advisory Boards of the Mentor Group (Boston, US) and the CEELI Institute (Prague) and Chairman of the Board of the World Legal Forum Foundation (The Hague).
