Curriculum Vitae

Mr. Chen Xiahong, a PhD candidate of China-EU School of Law, is taking his one-year visiting study in Faculty of Law of Maastricht University according to his PhD program from 27th,April, 2011. Mr. Chen will do his academic research on the topic of comparison of cross-border insolvency between China and EU, especially on the judicial cooperation in this subject.

Mr.Chen had learnt in CUPL and got his Bachelor’s degree on Law in 2004. After that, he had an experience to be a journalist in a newspaper for one year and became a staff of CUPL in 2005. Before he was enrolled by CESL in the fall of 2009, Mr.Chen had spent two years to gain his Master’s degree in China University of Political Science and Law, with a dissertation on the topic: The Transformation of Bankruptcy Law in Ancient and Modern China. At the same time, he also worked in CUPL for more than six years as an academic editor of JOURNAL OF CUPL.

From 2006, Chen Xiahong had published more than three books on the research of lawyers’ fate in China since the republic system had been established in 1911. The most famous book is the oral auto-biography of Professor Jiang Ping with the editing work by Chen Xiahong. Professor Jiang Ping, 81 years old, the former president of CUPL and be forced to leave his position in 1990, with the reputation as “the conscious of  legal profession” by the public media, is one of the leading scholars in China with the dedication all his life to prompting the rule of law process in China. That book won the first of Top10 best-selling books in 2010.
