Curriculum Vitae
Nina Büttgen is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Public Law. Nina completed  an interdisciplinary Bachelor-degree with a concentration on Social Sciences at University College Maastricht (UCM) , of which she spent one semester in Santiago de Chile. She acquired specialisation in European and international law amongst others at McGill University, Montréal, Canada, and at Paul Cézanne University,  Aix-en-Provence, France. She graduated from Maastricht University with a LL.M degree in 2008.

For three years Nina practiced as a consultant at the government relations and public affairs group PA Europe in The Hague and in Brussels, where she devoted about half of her time to societal need- and development-related projects under the Public Advice International Foundation. In June 2011 Nina started a PhD-research project at Maastricht University.

Under the guidance of co-promoters Prof.  Saskia Klosse and Prof. Ferdinand Grapperhaus, her four-year research will focus on a comparative analysis of how to combine non-standard work contracts with adequate labour protection in the context of the European concept of ‘Flexicurity’.  The research project is supported by a grant of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO).
