Curriculum vitae
Iveta Alexovičová works as Lecturer at the Department of International and European Law of the Law Faculty of the Maastricht University, teaching several courses on international trade law and co-coaching the UM team participating in the ELSA Moot Court Competition on WTO law. In addition, Iveta is a member of the international faculty of the China – EU School of Law in Beijing, China. She is a fellow of the Institute for Globalisation and International Regulation (IGIR) and a member of the Ius Commune Research School.
Iveta obtained her Master degree in law from Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1997. In 2004, Iveta graduated cum laude in the postgraduate Master programme in Comparative, European and International Law Magister Iuris Communis at the Maastricht University, succeeded in 2009 by the Advanced Master in International and European Economic Law. In 2006, following a thesis defence, Iveta was granted a postgraduate academic title JUDr. (doctor of law) by the Charle’s University in Prague, Czech Republic. In December 2010, Iveta finalized her PhD thesis dealing with specific legal safeguards of the indepence and impartiality of the international and European civil service. The thesis was prepared at the Law Faculty of the Maastricht University under the supervision of Prof. P. Van den Bossche and is expected for defence in 2011.
Iveta’s relevant working experience includes legal advisory in the public and private sphere, first in Slovakia and later in the Netherlands (1997-2003). From 2004 onwards, Iveta has been conducting her PhD research at the Law Faculty of the Maastricht University, in combination with lecturing in various courses on European and international (trade) law and coaching several international law moot court competitions (Philip C. Jessup, Telder’s, WTO). She has also been participating in various capacity building activities in the Netherlands as well as abroad.
