Ever thought of working towards a PhD alongside your full-time job? The part-time PhD programmes at Campus Brussels of Maastricht University offer a unique opportunity to obtain a doctorate degree to enhance your professional career.
This programme is aimed at individuals living and/or working in Brussels and the Low Countries, and suitable for those with a previous education in a variety of disciplines across the broad range of social sciences. As such, it allows for both qualitative and quantitative approaches to research.
At the beginning of the programme, PhD Fellows are offered a range of courses, taught at ‘Campus Brussels’ which aim at providing basic relevant knowledge and with a focus on research skills. Each PhD project is monitored by a team of two supervisors, of whom at least one is a full professor at Maastricht University. PhD fellows meet regularly to present and discuss draft work and receive feedback from peers and external experts. A part-time PhD would normally be expected to take around 5 years.
All collective meetings take place at Campus Brussels on weekdays, once a week, from 18:00 – 21:00 hrs. Occasionally meetings are organized on Saturday. Individual supervision meeting take place alternately in Brussels and Maastricht, or via Skype or similar communication tools.
